German Catapult Ship Friesenland 1/700

In the 1930s the German Lufthansa ordered four catapult ships to establish transatlantic postal services by airplanes. In 1937 the Lufthansa received the Friesenland, which was designed for the northatlantic postal service with heavier airplanes up to 15to. She served before WW II in the North- and Southatlantic. She could carry two large planes. For the test runs over the Northatlantic she carried some of the famous Dornier Wal Flying Boats.

In den 1930 bestellte die Deutsche Lufthansa vier Katapultschiffe (Schleuderschiffe) zur Einrichtung von Luftpostlinien über den Nord- und Südatlantik mittels Flugbooten und Seeflugzeugen. 1937 erhielt die Lufthansa die Friesenland, welche speziell für den Nordatlantikdienst mit schweren Flugzeugen bis zu 15to eingerichtet war. Sie wurde vor dem Krieg im Nord- und Südatlantik eingesetzt und konnte zwei große Flugzeuge tragen. Für die Testflüge im Nordatlantik wurde die Friesenland mit den berühmten Dornier Wal Flugbooten ausgerüstet.
