Trumpet mouthpiece

As a trumpet player, I have tried numerous mouthpieces over the last 40 years. Some fit better than others but they are all generic and so none truly fit. While walking through a store I noticed a 3D printer setup that would scan a person's foot and print out a personally designed shoe insert.

I put the two together and set out to design a mouthpiece that actually fits a person's face. It's mostly round but slightly oval. After having Shapeways print out one for me it added three notes to my range and gave me significantly greater endurance and flexibility. It also produces a great sound. Printed with smooth plastic, the transluscent color looks really cool. Great for marching band since the material doesn't get cold outside like brass does.
