Product Description
This version of this loco body has no handrails or smoke box doorhandles included to allow the modeller to add their own from separately sourced brass components. Go back to the shop for the all inclusive version with 'moulded on' handrails and smoke box doorhandles.
OO9 loco body to fit Kato 11-109. Features integral couplings compatible with Peco, Bachmann, Roco and Bemo.
For this model, the plastic at one end of the Kato chassis (doesn't matter which end) needs to be removed. I suggest using a razor saw against the protruding metal part of the mechanism, removing about 5mm of plastic.
This model includes 3 options for cab style, all included on the print. These will need carefully removing with a razor saw and the tabs filing off. The two smaller weather boards fit to the loco by means of a tab in a slot in the top of the boiler. These tabs and/or the slot may need a bit of cleaning up with a file to fit nicely. The full cab also has a tab that locates it to the side and back sheet, which may need similar treatment.
The loco is freelance and features motion covers to hide the Kato chassis, except for the front axle which is on show as the pony wheels. It bears a resemblance to the Beyer Peacock locomotives on the Isle of Man, but of course smaller for 009 as the prototypes are 3' gauge.
