Product Description
3D replicated part for Volkswagen Beetle steering wheel tension spacer. The original part over time can crumble to pieces. In the order of parts, the metal contact ring (sometimes referred to as an anti-rattle bushing), the upper steering wheel bearing and then this spacer. A cir-clip is then installed after the spacer. This parts actual function is to hold tension on the contact ring/anti-rattle bushing so that it doesn't slide down too far past the upper bearing and cause up/down left/right movement as well as a stopping point for the in/out distance of the steering wheel assembly. If a plastic contact ring/anti-rattle bushing is used, this part is not required. Hard to find in the real world that's why we live in a digital one!
Note: This part has recently been updated so that the inner diameter is less than a millimeter smaller, this thickens the part slightly while giving it a more snug fit. You may want to slightly sand the part for fitting purposes. Ribbed side faces toward steering wheel. The Inside Diameter of the part averages 23.80mm. I cannot guarantee that this part will fit your particular steering column, all I can tell you is, that this fits my stock 1971 Super Beetle. I am not responsible for the miss handling or improper installation/usage of this part.
