Pokeball - 1:1 scale - Half-shell
This is the - Half-shell - part of my Pokeball model.
This part is usually - white (bottom half) and red (upper half)- on a normal pokeball, but feel free to order it in another color if you wish.
You need - 2 - of this part for - 1 - Pokeball. (1 in white and 1 in red for a classic pokeball)
For 1 complete Pokeball model, you'll need:
2 Pokeball - Half-shell
1 Pokeball - Lower frame
1 Pokeball - Upper frame
1 Pokeball - Switch and panels
And accessorily:
1 Pokeball - Nintendo Switch cartridges holder
1 Pokeball - Display stand
This is a 1:1 real life scale model of a pokeball. It's a higly detailled model, both inside and outside, with a very discreet integrated hinge, and a working push-switch to open/close it. Perfect for pokemon trainer cosplay or as a display piece.
Optionally you can add a Nintendo Switch cartridges holder inside. Current model allows for up to 8 game cartridges, but I could make a different holder with more cartridge slots if I see enough people are interested.
The holder simply snaps into place, and can be taken out again easily, it's just a little add-on/off.
Optionally you can buy a little stand for the pokeball. It'll keep the pokeball from rolling away on a flat surface. It'll only work well when the pokeball is closed though. When opened, the center of gravity is off-balanced and makes it harder for the pokeball to stay upright. I could make a different stand to display in an open position too if enough people are interested.
Assembly is easy and straightforward, just snap the parts into each other.
WARNING: Do NOT snap the frames into the half-shells out of excitement as soon as you get the parts! Once the frames and half-shells are snapped together, they're VERY HARD to take appart without damaging the frames.
To obtain a result like in the pictures, you'll need to paint the "tips" representing the pokeball "pins" inside the half-shells in a copper/gold color, and the "power cells" on the inside-bottom of the half-shells in a blue/green color. I recommend nailpolish, as the material is porous. Do it BEFORE snapping the parts together, that way you don't have to worry about being precise, since the frame will hide any spill/excess paint.
For the mirror panels, you can paint the panels in a silver/mirror-like color, or if you're good at DIY, do it some other way. I used a mirror film/sticker applied on transparent acetate sheets, which I then glued to the panels. The sides don't have to be perfect, has they'll be hidden by the frames. Just use a bit of tape to hold the panels in place while snapping the frames in the half-shells. You can slide toothpicks between the frames and the shells to help if necessary.
