Product Description
The Saflex™ is a core safety stopper, designed to be used in the construction of foam LARP or prop weapons. When placed over the forward tip of the weapon's rigid core, the Saflex's tapered design gives the end gradual flexibility, allowing it to bend when thrust against a target. This assists in absorbing the impact, greatly increasing safety for stabbing and thrusts. This also has the fortunate side-effect of lessening the strain on the surrounding foam, and prevents the core from puncturing and protruding through the side of the blade. The straight profile of the Saflex also allows for ease of use, making it easy to outline and fit during foam construction.
The large plus is specifically sized for a .524" FWET core, with a 2" deep socket to ensure retention.
Note: during construction, the flat of the Saflex should align with the flat of the blade, in order to ensure that the stopper and the blade both flex in the same direction. If constructing with foam mats or sheets, this size will be easiest to install with 1/2" thick sheets. Other thicknesses may require more fitting.
WARNING: The Saflex can decrease the likelihood of injury when used properly; but no amount of modifications to foam weaponry can entirely eliminate the possibility of injury. It is the responsibility of the end user firstly to ensure that any weapon or prop which contains the Saflex is built with safety and durability in mind, and secondly to use the resulting weapon or prop in a safe and responsible manner.
