Pen Tip for Lamy Safari BP (2.4mm)

I present my Replacement Pen Tip/Head, for use on the Lamy Safari M16 ballpoint pen.
The Lamy Safari is a popular and high quality budget pen, but it's M16 ballpoint refill is considered by some to be it's least impressive feature. The refill's unique shape and the pen's corresponding internal cavity make fitting any other type of refill impossible, without seriously modifying the pen's screw off tip/head section.

This pen tip model is a direct replacement for the Safari's original and has a redesigned internal profile to now allow many popular refills to work in this pen. In addition to this pen tip a refill spacer or adapter will be required, due to the difference in overall length between the M16 refill and the one used to replace it. Spacers can either be made from basic materials such as plastic or wood, or purchased from me, designed specifically for the desired refill.
A different front spring will also most likely be required, as the one supplied with the pen may be too narrow and snag on the neck or shoulder of the chosen refill.

This model has a 2.4mm diameter hole through the centre, which will allow pens with a 2.3mm neck diameter to be used. I have a seperate version of this pen tip with a 2.6mm diamater hole, listed in my shop.

The larger holed pen tip will also work with the narrower refills, but they will be a little loose compared to using this one.

I would suggest printing this item in the Black High Definition Acrylate material, as it is the closest material to the pen's original in terms of appearance and surface finish, although it should be considered less durable. This is the only material that this part can be made available in, as the threads would be too detailed for the other printed plastics.

Due to the varying nature of 3D printing, I cannot guarantee that this part will definitely work with the Lamy Safari, although I've made every effort for it to do so.

I plan to make as many refill types compatible with as many host pens as possible, so If you have any suggestions on refill adapters or ansilliary parts like this one, please let me know and I can hopefully make it available, depending on the relative sizes involved. I have now created dimensioned drawings of over 80 standard and obscure ballpoint, gel and rollerball refill types, so I like to think that I have a fair idea of what is and isn't possible.
