Product Description
This highly detailed pendant is based on the structure of the filamentous fungus, Aspergillus.Aspergillus is one of the molds that might be growing on your uneaten bread or used in fermenting the soy sauce you eat with your sushi, but it is also an important model organism in eukaryotic molecular biology. Interestingly, this fungus is said to have been given its genus name by a priest who recognized the similarity between it and an aspergillum, a holy water sprinkler used in Catholic rituals. The design illustrates one conidiophore of Aspergillus with multiple conidia.
The pendant is printed in raw cast metals to preserve fine details. The pendant is approximately 1.8 cm wide, 1.5 cm long below the loop and 1 cm deep.
