Product Description
Please see the notes on my othe Conflat P whole wagon model. This set is just four of the same type (the conversion which retained the plate wagon ends) and is not provided with NEM coupler pockets or lifting rapidos. These are available separately, and the right ones for this model have grooves in the crown to fit around and slide along the ends of the central longitudinal frame members, to sit neatly behind the headstock. Once they're the right way round, they will need to be glued to stay in place, or a fairly rigid straight wire planted between them using the holes provided in their backs. You should be able to take them out and replace them if they get broken, unless you use glue and overdo it.
Offered straight for sale before trying myself, on the strength of similarity to the first version of the other model - but please note that the NEM coupler pockets (separate model) may not have been perfected yet (so they may only be as good as a certain RTR manufacturer's efforts, naming no names).
If you find the coupler pockets grip too loose on the coupler tang, I would suggest softening them in hot water and closing the beaks a little, or putting glue in them. If you find them tight, and perhaps before you break them, you could also soften them in hot water just before you put the coupler in to reduce the chance of a crack, or better - file the tang in the areas where there seems to be pressure (bottom and top of the arm, and the lump on top of the arm that stops a NEM from lifting into the space in the roof of the pocket which is meant for NEM-fitting rapidos to lift into).
UPDATE 2021-04-20 Increased some of the "wall" thicknesses in response to printability queries from Shapeways. 3D Tools show no issues with the parts indicated in the query, at least in smooth(est) fine detail plastic. I recommend ordering in smoothest fine detail plastic, the finish is cleaner and the price geberally very little higher. I can upload larger sets if you like, but the last time I tried this (with 9) the unit price was just the same as for 4.
Please only buy multipacks, or for that matter mutiples of anything, if you have good reason to be confident about the design itself, and your ability to finish the models consistently to the standard you expect. Try the single version first, then you'll know for certain, and it also gives you a chance to tell me about anything you would like (slightly) different before you spend more money than you have to.
