Product Description
The Listowel and Ballybunion Railway was opened in County Kerry, Ireland, in 1888.  Built to the Lartigue system, it was the world’s first commercial passenger monorail, operating until 1924, and remains one of the most famous monorail systems ever constructed.  Although scrapped, a working replica was constructed in 2003, continuing the history of this remarkable railway experiment.

This set provides the detailing parts for one of the line’s unusual ‘flying gate’ level crossings.  With the elevated rail it was necessary to develop an unorthodox solution, with this double drawbridge being use in several locations on the line.  Although intended foremost as a static model, holes are provided for pins/wire should the modeller wish to experiment with making it operational.

Necessary to Complete:
Flying Gate Structure (3D print, available separately)
Wire/thread (for control axles, cables and various details)
