Product Description
Mountaineer is a 2-6-2T locomotive built by the Cooke works of the American Locomotive Company at Patterson in New Jersey in 1916. It was originally constructed fir the war department light railways in France during world war 1. it worked on the tramway de pithiviers a toury from 1935 until this closed in December 1964. The locomotive was donated to the Ffestiniog Railway in 1967 and has since then been modified to meet the Ffestiniog loading gauge and converted to oil burning. Mountaineer was withdrawn in February 2006 in need of an overhaul and has since then been in storage in Glanypwll awaiting the time and money to be overhauled. This model is 1:76/009 scale and fits the Roco 33238 0-6-0 locomotive chassis with heavy modifications required and a replacement motor along with our separately available fly cranks and the 4NCP040 pony trucks from RT models. The model also requires painting. glazing for the windows and your spare time to complete.
