Product Description
This is a OO scale motorisable model of the 1935 Hunslet 22hp loco preserved at the Middleton Railway, Leeds.
I have not built this for myself yet, so it is highly experimental and is undetaken at your own risk! However, all the CAD checks out for clearances and tolerances so I do not see any reason it shouldn't work.
To complete the model you will need:
- Tramfabriek 0716D motor, with 2x 1.5mm shaft adapters
- 2x Tenshodo 14:1 gearsets (also available from Tramfabriek)
- 10.5mm spoked wheels (nickel silver tyred) on 2mm axles (e.g. Scale-Link)
- 4x 2mm axle bearings
- 2x DCC concepts WP12 pickups
- 0.5x1mm microstrip (for making the cab frame, which is too fine to print as part of the model), or brass sections
- mesh, wire, plastic sections etc. for detailing
- solder, glue, tools etc. (small files are very useful for tidying up edges)
Total motorisation parts cost should come to £30-35 depending where you source the parts.
The model will be relatively quick due to the small size of gears required, however the bonnet can be filled with lead and a cast whitemetal driver figure used to tame this somewhat.
For the rivet detail to come out well, I recommend the finer detail plastics - small details like this tend not to be visible with the standard versatile plastic.
