Product Description
If you are a maker who needs to cut  lots of wires to consistent lengths, this is for you! What will ship to you is 2 parts which telescope together to create a container with an adjustable depth-stop, that guides your wire for cutting and contains the cut pieces in a tidy pile. The jig has both metric and standard measurement guides. Just insert a straight length of wire, snip at the arrow mark and repeat!

There is one modification you'll need to make in order to use the jig: at one end of the interior cylinder, there's a small hole. You'll need to re-drill the hole with a .8mm or #66 drill bit (one that matches a 20 ga piece of wire) and glue a tiny length of 20 gauge (any material) wire into the hole. Once you've put the two parts together, you can trim the wire down flush to the surface of the outer tube. This will be what locks the jig at your desired depth for cutting.

There is a second modification that is optional, but really fun! On the underside of the base of the jig, there are four round insets which are sized to accept four magnets. If you choose to add the magnets, your jig will stick to your bench pin, your anvil, or any other steel surface, and using the tool will be a snap! If you choose not to use the magnets, the  base can be squeezed in any benchtop vise and will work just as well.

The magnets I've used are from K&J Magnetics, a wonderful source for all things magnetic! The SKU # is D22-N52, and the product listing is here: https://www.kjmagnetics.com/proddetail.asp?prod=D22-N52
You can use epoxy, gorilla glue or any strong glue to put the magnets in.  You can of course also use other magnets you already have, by adapting the center box between the magnet holes.
