Product Description
A commissioned item, this model depicts broad gauge Great Western Railway locomotive Lord of the Isles (an upgraded version of the Iron Duke Class – also available).  When used with the Iron Duke tender and other N broad gauge items available – notably ready-to-use dual-gauge sleepers for track – this is a fully operational model.  It is designed with two different methods of completion:

The first is as a scratch aid for motorisation.  The boiler can accommodate a 10mm diameter motor and there is as much space as possible provided for a scratchbuilt chassis.  A separate boiler section is included to enclose the motor if wanted.

The second method is as a free-rolling unit with a motorised coach/van (akin to others in the range).  For this a separate slot-in chassis is provided, comprising x3 axleboxes and boiler underside plus a smokebox-fitting section for the leading axlebox.  These are assuming axles of 1.5mm (supporting) and 2mm (driving) diameter, but there is enough material to open them out slightly if needed.  The driving wheel splasher shape from this part can also be used as a template for a scratch-built motor chassis as described above.

Additional parts are also included to amend the Iron Duke tender, namely front steps, guard cupola and alternate buffers.

Necessary to Complete:
Leading and trailing wheels – Farish A4 tender wheels (to be regauged with new axles for the correct 14mm gauge)
Driving wheels – 15.6mm diameter including flange, such as Alan Gibson S4 tender wheels (4S44C 14.6mm [excluding flange] 12 spoke)
Couplings (the method used is at the builder's discretion)
Weight
If motorising, a mini motor eg via: https://www.nigellawton009.com/MiniMotors.html
