RS Tonsil (1/3125 Scale)

United Earth and her allies would not learn the true name the Empire assigned these ships until more than a century after the War. Even today, they are best known by the reporting name the Fleet assigned them - "Tonsil".

A variant of the "Cabbage" cruiser class, the "Tonsil" was reconfigured as a transport. All weaponry beyond a single missile tube was deleted and much of the reclaimed space was given over to cargo. Some was given to expanding crew accomodations as well, however, including a three-story arboretum where the main missile stowage would have been. Even with these concessions to comfort, however, the "Tonsil" had seven times the cargo space of the "Cabbage". In the standard "Tonsil" class much of this was given over to deuterium tankage to supplement the limited range of the cruisers. The "Syrup" class variant devoted much of this space to hundreds of Marines, their weaponry and supplies, and heavy equipment for ground combat.

While none of these ships were ever captured intact, large elements of debris were collected and are on display at the Fleet Museum. A holographic walk-through is also available but patrons are reminded it is only an estimated reconstruction. The cargo-hauler conversion can be found in a separate entry.
