Product Description
Introduction Buyer Beware - This Thumb Rest measurements are Designed to fit The Yamaha Custom Z Saxophone , and Selmer Mark VI Saxophone.

The Deluxe WAW Modified Thumb Rest was created because of the necessity for a more comfortable, and Natural positioning of the right hand thumb for the Saxophonist. The traditional Sax thumb rest, that most saxophone manufacturers equip their instruments with today, puts the right hand thumb in a unnatural and stress prone position. This position over long periods of time, causes calluses, and after years can possibly impact the second joint on the right hand thumb in a physically debilitating manner. The traditional Sax thumb rest places the right hand thumb approximately in between the middle finger, and the ring finger on the right hand. This placement of the right hand thumb in between the middle finger and the ring finger, causes a slight clinching and restrictive posture for the right hand, and all of it's relative tendons and ligaments, which affects the efficiency of the right hands' dexterity over all. What the objective of The Deluxe Modified WAW Thumb Rest is, is to allow flexibility and create the more natural position for the Right Hand Thumb, which is parallel to the index finger. What I came to realize from many years of playing the Alto Sax, is that the truely most natural and comfortable position for the right hand thumb, is to be up higher, and parallel to the index finger, which puts it on top of the F sharp auxillary side key. This created the necessity to develop what I call, "the bridge to comfort", The Deluxe WAW Modified Thumb Rest for Saxophone. With the right hand thumb being in its more natural position, this increases the efficiencey of the ligaments and tendons, that work in tandem throughout the right hand and arm while performing. This also enhances the ability of your dexterity and speed while performing also. Therefore the stress prone position is relieved as well. So., the time has come.., cross over onto "the bridge to comfort", The Deluxe WAW Modified Thumb Rest for Saxophone, your right hand could never feel any better, and your right hand thumb will be free and comfortable.

How To Use

The proper technique in using The Deluxe WAW Modified Thumb Rest is to position the right hand thumb on top of the bridge area, which is the space above the F sharp auxiliary key, in which the Bridge crosses over. You can either rest your right thumb onto the contoured half inch ledge, that is the raised up panel at the bottom of the Bridge, or utilize the entire bridge surface area depending on the musical passages that you may be executing.

The other key factor in maintaining sufficient comfort and balance, is allowing your Right hand (Pinky) finger to gently rest upon the low E flat key. This gives way to added balance and stability as you execute musical passages at the upper register of the saxophone. This technique of gently resting the (Pinky) finger on the low E flat key is exactly the same as what flute players use while performing on the flute. The Pinky finger gives Balance, Support, and Stability between the Left and Right hands as they hold the instrument.
