During the Second World War, many nations used
gliders - engine less airplanes towed by other aircraft - to land soldiers from the air.
The General Aircraft Hamilcar was the largest British glider of the war. It could carry jeeps and other vehicles, even a light tank. To make loading and unloading easier, the front part could be opened.
This model in 1/200 scale shows the Hamilcar opened up as it would appear on the ground after a landing. It is especially useful as a marker for an airborne landing site.
