This is a set of two (2) modified steering servo mounts for the Kyosho Raider and Rocky series of RC cars from the 1980's.
The original parts were part of the RK-5 parts tree for the Rocky and the RD-4 parts tree for the Raider.
Specifications:
- Modified design mounts the servo forward 6mm compared to original stock parts
- 33mm long
- 8mm square (not including bottom flare and 6mm servo mounting offset)
- Holes designed for 3mm self-tapping or M3 machine screws
- 1mm bottom flare on all sides to improve strength/stability.
Modifications from the original part:
- The bottom of the mount has been widened by 1mm on all sides to improve mounting stability compared to the original part which actually got narrower at the bottom. This makes the bottom footprint 10mm x 10mm. It still fits the Rocky and Raider steering servo mounting locations even with this extra width.
- The servo mounting part has a +6mm offset to mount the steering servo forward 6mm vs stock. This allows the use of non-stock servo savers which have a shorter servo horn offset compared to the stock Rocky and Raider servo saver.
This part has been tested on the Raider and Rocky when using the Tamiya 0115065 P tree servo saver (the cheap gray plastic one common in many Tamiya cars) but may also work with other servo savers and cars that use these mounts. That said, it is your responsibility to ensure this part will fit your application.
Material recomendations:
- The default Black Natural Versitile Plastic has decent strength, however Black Professional Plastic is recommended for applications requiring maximum strength.
