Although the adapter will function without this ring, it does finish off the design and make the focus ring more tactile and easier to use. It is specifically for the 50mm f2.8 Cintagon lens (there is a 'window' cut-out to display the distance marks on the lens). It also works for the Argus Cintagon 35/f4.5 and the 100/3.5 Cintagon. It may, or may not, suit other C44 lenses.
