Product Description
USS NARWAHL (SSN-671) was a modified Sturgeon class nucleared powered fast attack submarine in the US Navy. She was 22ft longer than the standard Sturgeon submarine. She had a prototype nuclear power plant that was later used in the Ohio class submarines. She was reportedly the "quietest submarine" until the Ohio and Seawolf classes came on-line. The "hump" was reportedly added for testing new thin-line towed arrays.
No unclassified drawings or photo exist of her configuration below the waterline. The Starboard towed array tube is conjectured.
