Product Description
4 pair of live spring trucks used mostly under freight cars 1840-60. Modeled after a probable B&O example, these were also common under European cars imported from the U.S. or patterned on American designs, such as those of the Wurttemburg Railways. Requires 28"-33" wheelsets with 25mm length axles (.980" to 1.005"). I used RP25 contour Athearn/MDC and Reboxx solid wheels, but spoked wheels were commonly used and look best.
Clean with alcohol before painting, acrylics preferred. See also HO T03, a longer wheelbase truck for larger spoked wheels to NEM standards. Mounting hole diameter is 0.10"/2.5mm, with 0.20"/5mm diameter recess to accomodate a panhead screw.
Wicking in some thin CA glue will strengthen parts. Because of their fine detail, Smoothest or Smooth Fine Detail is the preferred material, others will show varying degrees of surface roughness or indistict, overly smooth detail. Most other materials may not even print because of the thin sections.
Part number HOT02, panamintmodels, reference JH White American Freight Car, fig. 2.15 and drawings of Wurttemburg cars by Thomas Scherer.
