Product Description
GWR Tadpole, Diagram S1 - Body (Part 2)

History.

This eight wheeled 5 plank open bogie fish wagon is of special interest as it used the underframe from the old standard gauge GWR Royal saloon which had been condemned. Reconstructed in this guise in 1904 under lot 1047, this wagon was intitally on the goods stock register as number 42809 and been in the standard goods wagon grey. However, it was later transferred to the carriage list when it was repainted brown with black underframes and renumbered 2008.

The fish would have been packed in ice, in either barrels or crates and due to the perishable nature of the cargo the wagons were built to run in passenger trains at express speeds.

The Model.

This print is contains the body (Part 2) only which is designed to be a push fit onto the underframe. If painting in the later brown vehicle livery it is recommended that the body and underframe are painted before assembly.

To complete the model, you will need the following:

GWR Royal Saloon & Dia S1 Tadpole Uderframe (Part 1);

2 of my GWR Dean 6'4" Bogie with boss available elsewhere on this site,

Buffers, wheels, couplings, paint, and transfers.

I would also recommend adding weight to improve running.
