HO Scale model of the Canadian National Railways (originally the Grand Trunk Railway) Cabin D signal box from Toronto Ontario. Cabin D was originally located between the diverging Oakville and Weston Subdivisions, west of Bathurst Street. Cabin D has been preserved and restored in Roundhouse Park at the Toronto Railway Museum and can be visited in the park. The original structure contained a 48 lever switch frame constructed by Saxeby and Farmer in London England. The restored tower contains half the frame, 24 levers which have been restored. The remaining levers are in storage for future exhibition use. This version of the model is of the original structure, a second version with the reduced 24 lever restored frame is available
here.
About the Model As you can see from the renderings, this is a model which requires some modelling skill to complete, because of the costs of 3D printing, it was not justifiable to 3D print large flat surfaces like the floor, or the flat sections of the roof. These will need to be created using sheet material of some sort (styrene, wood, cardboard) and in the case of the roof, covered with shingles material. I will post painting diagrams, however the structure lends itself to some freestyle paint choices if using it to represent another location. As of August 28, 2015 the model has successfully printed, and i am awaiting receipt of the first print. Once this is received i will update with pictures and details of finishing the model.
