Ancient Spear Pendant

To maximize the efficient search for food, our ancestors required information about the growth patterns of each plant and the habits of each animal. They needed to know which foods were nourishing, which made you sick, and how to use others as cures. They needed to know the progress of the seasons and what warning signs preceded a thunderstorm or a dry spell. They studied every stream, every walnut tree, every bear cave, and every flint-stone deposit in their vicinity. Each individual had to understand how to make a stone knife, how to mend a torn cloak, how to lay a rabbit trap, and how to face avalanches, snakebites or hungry lions. Mastery of each of these many skills required years of apprenticeship and practice. The average ancient forager could turn a flint stone into a spear point within minutes. When we from the modern world try to imitate this feat, we usually fail miserably.

This pendant is a monument to human persistency. To our unbelievable ability to never give up, and to overcome any situation. Its wearer is reminded of the awesome power that lies dormant inside - the power of his/her ancestors. The power to do whatever it takes to survive, and to achieve one's goals. The wearer is the end result of a countless number of ancestors who would, and did, anything to survive - and the strength that allowed his/her ancestors to do so also resides within him/her. One is reminded that if one simply wants one's dreams more than one wants to breathe; if one simply refuses to give up, and works relentlessly and tenaciously on one's dreams, then those dreams can be carved into reality. Even if they have to be carved from stone.
