Product Description
One-piece 3D printed tank and frame for Pacific Coast Railway 900-series tank car. These were tanks built for standard gauge tank cars shipped up from Los Angeles and mounted on modified 33-foot flat cars in the PCRy’s San Luis Obispo shops during the period 1902-1910. These were used for transporting oil from the oil fields to Port San Luis to tanks where it could be stored until transferred to ships. This model is based on drawings by Curt Johnson of car number 923, as published in the book “The Pacific Coast Railway – Central California’s Premiere Narrow Gauge”. This is a large tank car by narrow-gauge standards at almost 7,000 gallons capacity. Trucks, couplers, brass wire, handrail stanchions, brake wheel and decals NOT INCLUDED.

GENERAL NOTE: These craftsman kits consisting of 3D printed resin plastic parts are NOT as strong or flexible as the “engineering” plastics many of you will be used to in railway models, nor even as strong as conventional injection molded styrene. HANDLE THE PARTS CAREFULLY TO AVOID BREAKAGE. Wash the parts in isopropyl alcohol aided by a soft brush. Very thin parts of the kit can be strengthened by applying very small droplets of CA adhesive with the tip of a pin or needle to the back of the thin area after the parts dry. Use Berkshire Junction telephone line or “Knitting In Elastic” from Amazon for truss rods. Do not use CA or Super Glue adhesive on the truss rod thread – use “white glue”. Use a needle threader to feed thread through holes on cross framing or floor.
