Product Description
The StG 44 (SturmGewehr 44) is an assault rifle manufactured by C.G. Haenel Waffen und Fahrradfabrik from 1943 to 1945. This weapon have a revolutionnary ammunition for it's time, the 7.92x33mm Kurtz, a shorten version of the 7.92x57mm Mauser used by the main rifle of the version, the Kar98K.

The developement of this weapon was very though, because Hitler haven't grant the permission for this weapon, the Führer see it as an aberation since it was the crossing between a SMG and a rifle. But some General disobey to Hitler and keep developing the gun secretly. It's predecessor,The MKb 42(H), have been produced in limited number and send to frontline, and provide more firepower than a standard rifle.

The Stg 44 have been designated as MP43/44 to keep it secret from Hitler, but when the need of this weapon was strong, the general show the weapon to Hitler, which was a bit angry because of the disobedience of his general, but after some test and reading the feedback from the front, the weapon was mass produced. Hitler personnaly chose the name of this weapon "Sturm Gewehr", which mean "Storm Rifle", for propaganda purpose.

The StG44 could received a ZF4 optic and the Zielgerät 1229 infra-red aiming device, also known by its codename Vampir ("vampire").
Some rumor say that it's because of this gun that the Germany lose WWII, and it's a bit true : this gun entered in production too late to be significant in battle, only 425 000 StG 44 were produced.
