Track Brackets

These Track Brackets can be used with LEGO bricks to construct a single track, 1-1/2 turn, Z scale  helix or 1980 mm  of elevated tracks.

25 mm wide, 3 mm thick plywood or foam core is glued to the Track Brackets. The track is mounted securely to the plywood or foam core. I recommend using Rokuhan track, because of its strength. There are 12 track supports for each turn of the helix, which gains 38.4 mm for each full turn.  The clearance is approximately 30 mm, which is 2 mm less than the NMRA modern standard recommendation. A 1-1/2 turn helix rises 57.6 mm.
 
To build a 1-1/2 turn helix, you will need the following LEGO parts and 18 Track Brackets. I purchase my LEGO parts from TOYPRO because they don't make me buy more than I need.

24, LEGO 3024, 1x1 Plate, 3.2 mm high 
18, LEGO 3005, 1x1 Brick, 9.6 mm high 
18, LEGO 14716, 1x1x3 Brick, 28.8 mm high
36, LEGO 6541, 1x1 Brick with hole, 9.6mm high

The Track Support inserts into the hole of the LEGO 6541.
