Product Description
Most of my models are to 2mm:1ft scale and intended for 2mmFS or N-gauge use, and I just have one or two models at 7mm:1ft scale. Most of the wheels I have uploaded are N-gauge.
These wheels are different: they are meant for 3mm:1ft modelling.
Prototype: 2'8-2'9" diameter 3-hole disc wheels as fitted to many British Railways bogie wagons. These are slightly smaller than the wheels on most non-bogie wagons.
The dimensions for this model are based on some commercialy available 8mm solid disc wheels I bought at a show. Design dimensions are:
Axles 1.5mm diameter, pinpoints 20mm apart, with shoulders 1.25mm back.
Wheels back-to-back 10mm, outer surfaces 15mm apart.
Wheel diameter 7.8mm to 8.2mm cone
Flange thickness 0.5mm to 0.7mm at the base, height 0.7 mm, so the extreme diameter of the wheel including flange is 8.2+1.4=9.6mm.
This makes them more-or-less Triang-standards 3mm wheels for 12mm Gauge track.
Break the cages by nipping the bars with small pliers to free the wheels, which can be done before or after cleaning and painting, whichever you find most convenient.
They came out pretty good when I ordered some myself, so I'm making them available for sale.
I can also make other sizes and styles available if you get in touch and ask - for example, I have already done the CAD for the equivalent thing for FS standards 14.2mm gauge track and will upload it if anyone wants to try them - subject to the flanges being acceptable to print, so there might be a delay while I order them first to make sure.
