Product Description
Lehigh Valley cabooses had a unique 3-step stirrup, vs. the 2-step
version found on other Northeastern-style cabooses. This kit contains
enough to retrofit one P2K caboose. **Please note: the top plates are mirror
images of each other - the step should be oriented with the longer end
of the top plate toward the carbody.** I made some changes in July 2018 to improve the product - the alignment pins were giving me trouble so I eliminated them. The mounting plate is now the same thickness as the P2K deck. I got a recommendation that Tamiya Extra Thin Cement works well to attach that mounting plate to the deck. And the back diagonal brace is now thicker at the top to align the steps properly and clear the journal boxes on the trucks.
Special thanks to Tom Biery for
the original in-service photos from his book Alco's to Allentown, and
to Michael J. Boyle for the project suggestion and the detailed
prototype photos. As with all my projects, part of the proceeds benefit
the ARHS and the RCT&HS.
