Team Associated TC4 Steering Rack

This is a stronger, more robust steering rack design for the Team Associated TC4 touring car. 

The standard hard plastic steering rack and servo saver is a weak link on this car.  My first time out with my TC4 touring car my day came to an abrupt end when I clipped a pipe and broke the Club Kit plastic steering rack. 

I didn't want to repeatedly buy the orignal fragile part and I read that the Chinese aluminum replacement parts had a lot of slop.  Instead I designed a stronger plastic replacement.   This design has lived through nearly a year of events on my VTA car.

This steering rack is stronger, lighter and (depending on the shipping you choose) its about the same price as the original piece. 

On the original part, the rack bushings turn inside of the steering rack.  Due to the tolerences and surface finish of the 3D printed parts, the bushings will want to stick.  I simply tightened my bushing bolts up and then backed them off about an eighth of a turn to let the steering operate freely. 

This part elminates the servo saver, so if you want to run one you'll have to get one that integrates with the servo horn.  The top block where the center ball stud mounts was left thin.  This is the mechanical fuse on this rack should you have a really big crash.  A LONGER TOP BALL STUD MAY BE NEEDED WITH SPACERS TO CLEAR THE RACK SWING ARM MOUNTS.  Please see photos for my setup.

This part is not a direct, drop in fit.  The tolerances on 3D printing are not as good as injection molded or machined parts.  All of the holes and bores on this part were designed small.  You WILL have to open up the holes and possibly file the edges to fit this part.  I used a drill bit and a jewelry file to clean mine up.
