Product Description
The Listowel and Ballybunion Railway was opened in County Kerry, Ireland, in 1888.  Built to the Lartigue system, it was the world’s first commercial passenger monorail, operating until 1924, and remains one of the most famous monorail systems ever constructed.  Although scrapped, a working replica was constructed in 2003, continuing the history of this remarkable railway experiment.

This model provides sleepers for the various items of Lartigue monorail rolling stock available.  Although individually fragile, they combine to produce a strong track capable of making straight or curved sections, with sleepers positioned 12mm apart.  This pack creates approximately 840mm of track and can be used to make a static display model (rolling stock separately available) or a fully operational model with the use of steel strip and magnets (see video below).

Necessary to Complete:
Peco flexitrack rail (slots in place)
1mm x 0.5mm styrene strip (for the side rails; mounting supports are ready-fitted)
Ballast
Styrene sheet (it is easier to make the track in sections on a plastic base either for display or to affix to a baseboard)
