EP-1/EF-1 Boxcab Milwaukee Road

Manufactured by Alco over 100 years ago, between 1915 - 1916, these unique workhorses faithfully served the electrified divisions of the Milwaukee Road for over fifty years.  The EP-1/EF-1 Boxcabs were charged with replacing the heavier steam power of the time, and proved to be more reliable and economic than their coal burning counterparts.   As the EF-4 "Little Joes" arrived on scene in the early 50's, the Boxcab began supplimenting the power pool, largely being relegated to helper service.  The last Boxcab to remain in service was unit E57B, which carried out switching duties at Harlowton, MT until June, 1974.

NOTE: Pantograph mounts on this model are designed to fit Kato GG1 pantographs or alternatively the brass pantographs offered for the Little Joe in the AlwaysSolutions shop.
