GNR/LB&SCR petrol railcar

This is the GNR railcar as outlined in Great Northern Locomotive History Volume 3a – 1896-1911 The Ivatt Era by N. Groves volume 3i. The petrol railcar was sent to the GNR by Dick Kerr for evaluation. Unfortunately various issues mean that the GNR rejected this prototype, and it eventually went to work in the electrical department of the LB&SCR.

Notes:

• There are no known diargams or plans for this prototype. The model was based on extensive photographic research and a few published measurements from the Groves volume and contemporary engineering magazines. Even so, some of the model is based on what looks right rather than on measured dimensions.

• This model has been successfully printed on a Peopoly Moai and a Form 3D printer without issues.It has now been successfully printed by Shapeways.
• Thisi s the bodyshell and chassis only. Wheels, seats, buffers and handrails are not included.
