USS Hayler, Original Plan, x 5, 1/6000

When the funding to build the last Spruance class destroyer was approved, the original plan was in fact to build a hanger-enlarged version which allows for more heavier helicopters to be employed. In the end funding constraints prevented detail design and engineering work to be done, thus the USS Hayler is then built as a standard Spruance class destroyer.
