Product Description
I made this to replace a scratch built model I made c1990. It is of a 1963 sweeper owned by the town of Smithtown (NY) from 1963 to 1968. The 880 was introduced in 1962, and added 1/2 yard to the 4 yard capacity of the model 550. The 880 was replaced in 1964 by the 990 which did not have the rounded contours on the hopper and engine cowl. This 3D design has numerous minor corrections of my Wayne 550 model. It does not have a pickup broom because I like making one from a wood dowel. It does not have a seat or steering wheel to keep the cost down. I added them from my parts boxes. Also, I could make a more realistic spray bar and front dirt deflector from Evergreen plastic. It has an aftermarket air cleaner inlet that is high. The sweepers were made with low air cleaner inlets. The gutter broom and exhaust are inside. Two spotlights are on the back of the bumper.
