TGM 4,, (locomotive with hydromechanical transmission, shunting, type 4) is a four-axle locomotive with hydromechanical transmission, designed at the Lyudinovo diesel locomotive plant on the basis of locomotives ТГМ3 and TGM 6А. TGM 4B, in fact, is a continuation TGM 3A, but with a new diesel engine instead of the not entirely successful М753. On the locomotive is mounted a four-stroke six-cylinder diesel 211Д-1, 211Д-2 or 211Д3 (6ЧН21/21 type according to GOST) with a supercharger and direct fuel injection. The first prototype of the locomotive TGM 4 was made in 1973.
