Product Description
The success of the Krechet experiments proved the viability of antimatter power for combat vessels and its superiority to classical fusion reactors. They were followed by the Powhatan class, sleek and streamlined for superior FTL performance. Primarily designed as escorts for the massive Yorktown carriers, the Powhatans were faster, more heavily armed, and most importantly had considerably more endurance than their experimental predecessor. Not a single carrier was lost while under escort by these remarkable craft.
By the end of the War, almost all other small cruisers and destroyers in front-line service had been replaced by Powhatans. Even after, they soldiered on in the border patrol, piracy suppression, and other duties. Many were also sold off into civilian service, becoming high-speed couriers and personal transports.
UES Phaeton, CEM-18, is on display at the Fleet Museum, an excellent example of this class.
