Product Description
Part of the larger Passaic Class. Lehigh was designed to a slightly different pattern than her sister ships, mostly as a result of the reports of Monitor's performance at Hampton Rhodes, but also as a result of early engagements by the first examples of the Passaic Class. Most notably, this included an altered ventilation system and the replacement of the turret's normal 11" Dahlgren with an 8" Parrot rifle.
Lehigh was almost constantly engaged during the war, and had a long career after, only being formally stricken in 1904. Her official paint scheme during the war was black all over (this almost certainly would have faded quickly to more of a charcoal color) with her stack and sleeve painted light grey for identification.
