This pendant is based on the structure of B-DNA, the most common form of this important molecule. The double helix structure possesses a major groove and a minor groove, i.e., the helix is not symmetrical. In B-DNA the major groove is significantly wider than the minor groove. In general, DNA-binding proteins associate with the major groove.

The pendant is 3 cm (1.2 inches ) long below the loop.
