Product Description
These housings have recently received an overhaul and are much smoother and are now pretty much indistinguishable (in feel) from the feel of an OEM housing. They require ZERO post processing or fiddling aside from assembling them into your module!
This is a more inexpensive option than a drilled houing which can be paired beautifully with one of the inexpensive Tao bronze bowl inserts found here on ShapeWays. This housing is also compatible with steel SS64 and steel Tao inserts!
In order to use this part, you need to make sure you have a bowl insert. You can pair this with a Tao steel insert or a Tao bronze insert from ShapeWays.
There are two resin options:
1. Clear is slightly less brittle than the Tan resin, but has a slightly rougher feel.
2. Tan is slightly more brittle than clear, but is smoother (I can't tell it apart from an OEM bowl housing in a blind test).
When assmebling your module: BE VERY CAREFUL not to break the "arms" off of the resin housings installing your encoders! This is the moment when your housing is most likely to be damaged. Put in your separately supplied metal insert (the fit will be perfectly snug), assemble your module, and you'll be up and running!
