Product Description
Inspired by minimalism, an art movement which sought to reduce form to its essence or gestalt but was largely dependent on scale for visual and spacial impact. This piece is very much an inside joke for those who study art history and sculpture more specifically from which this cube may elicit a smile or smirk or used to measure as it is 1 in square.
Artists like Donald Judd and Robert Morris were some of the eminent proponents of minimalism and many regard it to be a "masculine" or Apollonian practice and theory. Eventually postminimalist and feminists artists especially sought to counter this aesthetic especially with soft sculpture and textile works, but it never the less had a great and lasting impact on the arts.
