Product Description
This stunning pendant is inspired by the benthic foraminiferan Peneroplis pertusus. Foraminiferan are marine and fresh water protists that build exquisitely detailed shells, or 'tests.' Peneroplis itself is a genus of foraminifera within the order Miliolida. The Miliolida are characterized by multi-chambered, porcelain-like tests composed of calcium carbonate. Peneroplis species are represented in fossil as well as recent natural history.
