Built at Montgomery and then deployed to the Mobile Bay Squadron. She was a sister ship of "Huntsville," but was built to the originally intended plan, while Huntsville was considerably altered. Both began service as floating batteries, but were refit as ironclads to assist the greatly overworked CSS Baltic. She was highly unusual in her design, and when refit as an ironclad equipped with a ram, though her engines we so weak that the ram seems to have been more a hindrance than a help. There is some confusion as to her color. Records say that she was painted either white, or chocolate brown, and that she had weathered to lead grey. Very proud to offer you this version of Tuscaloosa; I believe that we are the first company to release her in her historically correct form in 1/600 scale.
