N Gauge Bulleid Leader Bogies Simple Version

Southern Railway engineer OVS Bulleid’s ‘Leader’ Class was one of Britain’s most remarkable, if ill-fated, steam locomotive designs.  Aiming to merge the advantages of diesels with steam technology, this unusual engine suffered from numerous teething troubles and was scrapped in 1951.  Fuller historical details can be found under the N Gauge Leader body product.   

PLEASE READ AS THIS IS VITAL FOR SUCCESSFUL CONSTRUCTION!

 This scratch aid provides the bogies for Bulleid’s ‘Leader’ in N Gauge.  The model is a revised and super-detailed upgrade of a previous version, with TWO separate ways it can be built.  This specific ‘simple’ part is intended for the easy-build version, using the chassis unmodified with under-scale wheels (unlike the ‘BFB’ version with its own parts that has chassis modification, creating scale wheels).  Further details of both versions can be found under the N Gauge Leader body and a video of the ‘simple’ version construction is below.   

THE PARTS FOR THESE TWO VERSIONS ARE NOT INTERCHANGABLE.  Please therefore order accordingly – required to complete the SIMPLE model are: 

• N Gauge Bulleid Leader Body (the same for both versions)
• N Gauge Bulleid Leader Cabs Ashpan Simple Version
• N Gauge Leader Bogie Supports Simple Version
• Tomytec TM-TR02 Powered Motorized Chassis N scale (x2)
• Graham Farish wagon wheels (x2)
• 0.5mm styrene strip (to retain wheels and for shims where necessary)
• Wire (flexible electrical pickup between bogies and modelling wire for brake/heat pipes and brake gear)

• Couplings
• Coal & Crew
