RS Diver (1/3788 Scale)

United Earth and her allies would not learn the true name the Empire assigned these ships until more than a century after the War. Even today, they are best known by the reporting name the Fleet assigned them - "Diver".

Designed and constructed at the same shipyards as the "Chowder" cruisers, the "Diver" was designed as a lighter, faster consort for these and the larger "Cabbage" cruisers. The triple-fin design allowed for widely-spaced maneuvering thrusters to maximize their agility. Three missile tubes and a single plasma cannon -- if a slightly smaller one than their cruiser consorts -- provided respectable firepower for a small ship.

As with their larger siblings, the 'fin' structures have very little hominid-habitable volume, consisting primarily of deuterium tankage and missile stowage. The crew shares fairly cramped conditions in the central hull with the large fusion reactor required to provide the "Diver" its speed. (Unlike United Earth's Fleet, the Empire does not appear to have developed antimatter power systems at this time.)

While none of these ships were ever captured intact, large elements of debris were collected and are on display at the Fleet Museum. A holographic walk-through is also available but patrons are reminded it is only an estimated reconstruction.
