Product Description
This is a Buckle from The Reisberg near Scheßlitz-Burgellern
This buckle is a replica of a buckle from an early 5th century German context. Likely to have been made during the Augustinian period and indicates connections to Bohemia at the time of the Marbodian Empire. It is almost certainly specifically Bajuwaren (from the area that encompassed most of what is now old Bavaria, Austria, and southern Tyrol), and was found alongside a number of other belt fittings and buckles. It has a parallel from a 2nd century AD woman's grave from Gerasdorf, Modern day Austria.
The original was made of Copper Alloy. My replica is near enough 1:1 with the original and will suit a strap an inch wide. It will require a buckle plate fabricating. This is not included.
I have not yet received my copy of this and so I cannot vouch for its quality or suitability for purpose - but I will update this description when I have confirmed all is right and well.
