Product Description
This is an N Gauge model of 1846 Furness Railway locomotive Coppernob, now preserved in the National Railway Museum. Combined with the Coppernob Tender (separately available), this scratch aid enables an unpowered free-rolling model engine. Coupled to the motorised Liverpool and Manchester Railway coach (separately available, plus free-rolling coaches), a fully working 'Era 1' N Gauge train can be created.
Necessary to Complete:
Graham Farish Jinty driving wheels (available as spares); 10.5mm diameter including flange, 1.5mm axle
Couplings (ELC couplings can be modified, but the method used is at the builder's discretion)
Weight (the boiler is hollow)
(NB small strips of styrene will hold the driving wheels in place and wire/pins used to fabricate coupling rods - see images) I have also been told that commercial 15.5mm coupling rods also work successfully (such as from https://www.nbrasslocos.co.uk/nloco.html).
Optional additional details to scratchbuild (at the builder's discretion):
Buffers (drill points marked)
Sand pipes (drill points marked)
Reverser lever (its base is pre-printed) and rod
Wheel guards
Safety valve (drill points marked) Smokebox dart
Regulator
Crew
I hope you enjoy this unusual and eye-catching model.
