NOTE: The product currently being sold is the V2 version, whixh can be seen in the last photo in image gallery. I've reshaped it to make the top portion thinner and removed the flex ridges on the inside. I did this out of an abundance of caution to not present any possibility of rubbing on the breathing loop. Updated images will be uploaded this weekend.
Adapts the new NERD 2 CCR mount to work with the rEvo DSV, even with a gag strap installed. The adapter is designed to remain securely in place and will not interfere with DSV operation, and won't fatigue the breathing hoses. Can be installed on either the left or right side of the DSV.
NOTE: The NERD 2 mount works with the original NERD computer.
Though rEvo now sells a version of the NERD 2 mount with an attachemnt clip for the rEvo DSV, using the HANZL DESIGN adapter with the "universal" NERD 2 mount provides a series of benefits:
1) Folks who have a rEvo and purchased the NERD 2 can now use the mount that came with the NERD 2 on their Evo.
2) Provides a more secure attachment to the rebreather as it's a full clamp vs a clip-on attachment.
3) The part of the mount that remains attached to the NERD is smaller with the "universal" mount (utilizing the HANZL DESIGN adapter) than with the rEvo specific mount. This is because with the rEvo specific mount the entire mount needs to be unclipped from DSV, whereas with the "universal" mount the mount easily splits into two sections, allowing for more compact storage of the NERD - it'll still fit in its case.
4) If you switch to another CCR the NERD mount will still work, whereas the rEvo specific mount will not.
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Remove the rubber strip glued to the inside of the NERD 2 mount wherere it clamps to the DSV. This strip is not needed.
- Ensure the hose clamp that attaches the breathing loop to the DSV is oriented with the screw assembly on the bottom.
- Orient the HANZL DESIGN adapter with "^DSV^" pointing towards the DSV, on whichever side of the DSV you wish to mount the NERD.
- Gently squeeze the breathing hose and insert the adapter onto the hose.
- Slide adapter along the hose towards the DSV until it is over the hose clamp. Ensure the opening in the adapter points down so that it fits over the hose clamp screw assembly.
- There is a slight recess along the inside of the adapter that fits over the hose clamp.
- Release the thumb screw on the NERD 2 mount (on the large ring on the mount that goes over the breathing hose).
- Fit this ring over the breathing loop and onto the groove in the top of the HANZL DESIGN adapter, ensuring the opening of the ring is also oriented down. Snug down the thumb screw - you may have to loosen the thumb screw all the way and then reattach it.
- Finish assembling the NERD 2 mount per the Shearwater instructions.
