Product Description
This is an HO Scale model of the Rock Island composite wood/steel cabooses built by the railroad and used all the way up to the shutdown in 1980. This variant represents the cabooses without cupolas and were typically used in transfer service. The model comprises of the caboose body and a frame with mounting holes for trucks and a coupler box.
The model is divided into two separate listings: the main body and the separately applied details (e.g. the steps, hand brake stand, and the smoke jack). This listing is for the main body.
To complete the model, you will need the following:
- Part 2 listing for the RI OSB Caboose Details
- Kadee #1580 Bettendorf AAR Self Centering Caboose Trucks (1 pair)
- 2-56 screws to mount the trucks to the body
- Hand Brake Wheel (I recommend Kadee #2040 Ajax)
- 0.015" diameter brass wire for grab irons
- Couplers of your choosing (I recommend Kadee #158)
- Paint and Decals (Microscale and K4 Decals have RI caboose sets)
- Additional details to your specifications
