Product Description
A wireframe model of Goldberg Polyhedron[2,1], using George Hart's notation. This is a class III Goldberg polyhedron, the simplest one that is chiral, that is, which has a different mirror image. It has 72 faces, 140 vertices, and 210 edges. Icosahedral Goldberg polyhedra always have 12 regular pentagonal faces, and the remaining faces are (typically irregular) hexagons. They are the duals of icosahedral geodesic polyhedra. This model has flat faces with holes in them, rather than edges only, circular in cross section.
The notation [2,1]. indicates that you can start at any pentagonal face, go straight for 2 hexagons, then make a left turn and go 1 space, and reach another pentagon. The soccer ball is a Goldberg Polyhedron[1,1].
